As doctors preparing for our own postgraduate examinations, we experienced first-hand how difficult it was to balance revision with full-time NHS work, on-call commitments and life outside medicine. We wanted an affordable way to practise oral examinations whenever we had time, and receive meaningful feedback — but nothing quite met our needs.
So, in 2023, we decided to build it ourselves.
What started as an AI-powered communication skills platform has since grown into something much bigger. Alongside our clinical careers, we've developed iPrepBuddy into a medical education platform that combines expert teaching, intelligent technology and educational research to support doctors who are committed to getting through key exams and interviews.
Our first in-person ophthalmology interview courses reinforced something that we strongly believe and that research has thus far shown: the best learning happens when great teachers and innovative technology work together. Today, our hybrid approach combines live one-to-one and group teaching with AI-powered practice, giving learners greater flexibility while maintaining the human interaction that makes education truly impactful.
As iPrepBuddy has evolved, so has our vision. Beyond supporting individual learners, we now collaborate with educators, healthcare organisations and industry partners to explore how artificial intelligence can transform medical education responsibly. Through ongoing research, we aim to better understand how AI can enhance learning, assessment and educational outcomes to help shape the future of healthcare education.
Although our platform has grown, our motivation remains unchanged: to make high-quality medical education more accessible, engaging and evidence-based for healthcare professionals around the world.
